This course is an introduction to relational databases and the general skills for designing and using them. Topics include the relational data model, SQL, data modelling tools such as the entity-relationship model, functional dependencies, and (de-)normalisation, query processing and optimisation, and potential social and economic impacts of database design, for instance through (in-)security.
