International Humanitarian Law seeks to limit the effects of war and armed conflict and provides protection for individuals. The course examines the history of international humanitarian law, the relevant international conventions – especially the Geneva Conventions and the Additional Protocols – and current issues that have emerged as a result of the application and interpretation of IHL in recent conflicts.
